MU Narratives presents Tems: Lagos to New York City

After emerging into the spotlight in 2018 with Looku Looku, Nigerian musician Tems has been setting herself up for stardom. With a distinct vocal range and unique style, the leading vibe, Tems, has proved time and time again that she is here to stay.

For Melanin Unscripted’s Narratives, Tems gives fans a BTS of her first time in New York City. As she explores the Big Apple, the burgeoning star details her journey into the spotlight.

Since her first single, Tems has grown remarkably in the music space. Under her belt is a single with American popstar Khalid, Disclosure and Davido for the remix of ‘Know Your Worth’. Her own single ‘These Days’ placed her on a pedestal, while 2020 features such as ‘Decided’ with Odunsi (the Engine) and ‘Trouble’ with DRB Lasgidi has further echoed our sentiments.

In the Amarachi Nwosu directed mini-documentary, Tems makes bold statements affirming her faith, confidence and love for her fans. As she explores New York City, she shares her thoughts on her passion and art.

“If you care about something, care about it with your chest,” She states, “If you love something, love it with your chest.”
