For Nigerian raised Ghanaian DJ Sensei Lo the immersion of cultures is what defines the tunes that she spins. In House Rules she lays down the tracks bringing roofs down in the clubs of West Africa.

Started with Ariana Grande ft Nicki Minaj – Side To Side (High Ritzers Remix) ended with Uriel – Nwoke Oma.

 

 

What was going through your head as you were making this mix?

How to make a seamless mix that would get people vibing from start to finish.

 

 

What do you imagine people doing as they listen to this?

I imagined lots of dabs, shoki, alkayida and ground bursting moves.

 

Ghanaian Jollof of Nigerian jollof?

How about both? The Ghanaian in me says Ghana jollof but Nigerian party jollof speaks the gospel in volumes. So it’s a tie for me.

 

Tell us about growing up in Nigeria? How did it influence your music choices in DJ-ing?

Growing up in Nigeria has been nothing but life changing, crazy and yet fun at the same time. From the childhood birthday parties with energetic dance competitions it emphasized the beauty in rhythm which in turn lead me to dance music in genre.

 

What is the one thing you can do in Nigeria and only in Nigeria and nowhere else?

Driving in the opposite direction on a one way road.

 

What’s the last book you read and how has it influenced you?

The Celestine Prophecy. By making me aware of certain laws and rules that abide in the universe as well as the deeper understanding of our day to day coincidences.
