House Rules ft Trap T'Challa

Trap T’Challa is our youngest DJ and producer on House Rules so far. The budding producer is also looking at becoming the next Quentin Tarantino

 Are you a dj/ producer or both?

I am both and I’m also a filmmaker
 

What was running through your head making this mix?

The main aim every time I DJ is to introduce at least one person to some dope music he or she has never heard before. I want people to  ask, “who is this baaad m********ker playing this dope s**t!? “
 

How do you want people to feel when they hear this?

I want people to realise there’s so much more to music than the generic nonsense they be listening to on the regular, and also that nothing is stopping them from doing some digging to find some gems. Also I want people to feel very shwaezy

What do you imagine people doing when they listen to this mix?

Vibing with the squad somewhere and taking it easy. Basically, any chill vibey sort of thing.

What does music mean to you?

Music is everything to me chale. I’ve been interested in music for more than 14 years now and I am not about to stop anytime soon.I started rapping when I was 9 and DJing at 14, By 15 i was  producing. I sleep, I eat, I drink, I breathe, I live music. As matter of fact, I live art of any form. When I die I want to live on through my art like a boss.

Where do you see Music in Africa heading to in like the next 5 years?

To put it simply, we finna f**k s**t up. Africa has been in a very unique position culturally. All these years we have been imbibing the sounds of the world while brewing our own stuff over here. Over the next few years what is going to happen is that (and I even believe it is already underway) we are going to come out with sounds everyone everywhere is going to be able to relate with on so many different levels and ultimately capture the imagination of the music world. I most definitely, 200%, believe it has been an outstanding run for us, giving where we started, and I also believe things will continue going in our favour.
