MUSIC VIDEOS TO LOVE
Storytelling is a great tool when it comes to music, and music videos help visually translate that so we can love the tunes even more. Here is our pick of some of our favourite music videos from the past few months.
1. NSG – Porsche
Independent East London collective, NSG, recently released the visuals for their latest bop, ‘Porsche’.
In the raunchy visual, the boys are seen in a garage with Porsches, Big Booty Women (BBW), and Boerboels with Cuban link leashes. The video is a great precursor for their upcoming album, “Roots”.
2. Octavian ft. Take A Daytrip, Obongjayar, Santi – Poison
In the Crowns&Owls directed video for Octavian’s ‘Poison’, a tale of a trippy and surreal club experience unfolds. Featuring Take a Daytrip, Obongjayar and Santi, Poison is one to pay attention to.
3. KING PROMISE – SISA
King Promise laments a love gone sour from a change in character on Sisa. From underwater scenes to a food truck, King Promise and his lover go through the motions of denial, frustration and submission.
4. WURLD – LOVE NOBODY
It’s not every day you see a blue-haired damoiseau in distress, but Wurld plays the part well. In a thrilling action-powered video for Love Nobody, Wurld is saved by his lover after being captured by Asian mobsters.
5. Sauti Sol -Insecure
Before the release of their highly anticipated Midnight Train album, Kenyan Afro-Pop band SautiSol returns with “Insecure”. Between rhythmic guitar strums, the track oscillates between the perspectives of two lovers, each dealing with their respective insecurities.
6. KELVYNBOY FT DARKOVIBES, MUGEEZ – MOMO
Kelvynboy has mastered the art of self-isolation in this video as he spends some time with his love interest. He promises, as many African men do, to spoil her with MoMo (Mobile Money – a money transfer service). Watch the video featuring Darkovibes and one half of R2Bees, Mugeez.
