As we dive into a new month and the second half of the year, we dip our toes into new waters, exploring South African sound, in addition to our taste in the UK scene and new sound of West Africa.

South African rapper, Nasty C goes all out on the video for his new single, Jungle. Set in a rundown house, Nasty C’s unassuming deposition belts out bars after bars.

 

 

  • WOARA || KWESI ARTHUR

After an unexpected BET nomination, Kwesi Arthur drops this Ghanaian gospel tune appreciating God for his wins.

 

  • BODYGAURD || MHD

French rapper MHD goes Afro spitting madness over this insane dance beat for “Bodygaurd”.

 

 

  • BHOZA || DARKIE FICTION

South African duo, Darkie Fiction gives us the perfect start of the week with Bhoza. This motivational tune will give you some vim for the day and get you dancing as well.

 

 

 

  • TAKE TIME FT BU MAN, TROY J, DAPS

With his excellent production on Tibu’s Delay, Ghanaian producer Boye is quickly cementing himself as a dope afropop producer. Check out his new afro swing single Take Time.

UK rapper by way of Ghana, Wavy Mayor, bares out his thoughts on what’s happening in the world around him. The heart felt single pours truths in its rawest form.

Nigerian musician, Zarion Uti, creates a perfect new sound for Summer rides and calm nights. Aye is as impressive in production as it is in lyrics and delivery. Featuring PsychoYP the single is a perfect addition to your summer tunes.

 

 

  • UMLE || IMISEBENZI

A calm acoustic creation with soothing vocals delivered in Xhosa by South African duo Umle.   They  describe their music as “sis today” (today’s sound mixed with all influences). This is arguably one of the most calming sounds you’ll ever hear.

Ghanaian rapper John Hill brings on Ayat and Bryan the Mensah on this hard htting single New Edition. Pidgen, Hausa, and English are used to deliver the story of hustle, dreams and goals.

An R&B princess if we ever did hear one! We may be a whole year late, but South African based Rhea Blek’s Clyde is a beautiful new addition for your playlists.

Need some Ghanaian trap then DredW’s Abu Dhabi is for you. Flexing over banging drums and 808s, Abu Dhabi is bound to be a trap lover’s favourite.
